Stanford Professor to Receive 'Order of Rising Sun' From Japanese Government

SAN FRANCISCO, June 6 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Stanford University Professor Daniel I. Okimoto, a partner at Sterling Stamos Capital Management, L.P., will receive "The Order of the Rising Sun" from the Japanese government to honor his contribution to promote American-Japanese relations. The honor will be presented by Mr. Makoto Yamanaka, Consul General of Japan at the Japanese Consulate in San Francisco on June 7, 2007. Other recipients of this year's award include Kofi Anan, the former Secretary General of the United Nations, and Norman Mineta, the former U.S. Secretary of Transportation. Created in 1875 by Emperor Meiji, past recipients include former Secretary of Defense William Perry.

Dr. Okimoto is currently the Chairman of both the Global Research Institute and the Asia Strategy Group at Sterling Stamos. He is also a professor in the Department of Political Science at Stanford University and the Director Emeritus and Co-Founder of the Walter H. Shorenstein Asia/Pacific Research Center at Stanford University.
